Born in the United Kingdom, Paul completed his training
at the Royal Veterinary College in 1947. In 1963 he was made Fellow of
the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for a thesis entitled "Observations
on some of the diseases of the bovine foot." In 1966 he joined the faculty
of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan,
Canada. He co-authored and/or co-edited three editions of Lameness in
Cattle, has lectured extensively, conducted research and published numerous
papers on bovine lameness. He retired from the University of Saskatchewan
in 1992 and subsequently established VetAgro International Consultants
Inc.
Christer Bergsten
Christer
graduated from the Veterinary College of the Swedish University of Agricultural
Sciences in 1981 and went into general practice for four years. He joined
the Experimental Station in Skara where he undertook research, teaching
and extension. In 1978 he organized the International Lameness Symposium.
In 1995 he obtained his PhD and took a postdoctoral position at Washington
State University in 1997. In 1999 he joined the Swedish Department of
Animal Environment and Health and is now the lameness expert to the national
herd-health project at Swedish Milk. He has special interests in preventive
measures, particularly the influence of housing and management on claw
health.
Roger W.
Blowey
Roger graduated from the University of Bristol in 1968
and obtained his Fellowship to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
in 1995. He is a recognized specialist in the economics of dairy production
and in the design of preventive medicine programs. He has written several
books including Cattle Lameness and Hoofcare as well as numerous papers
in scientific journals and lay magazines. Roger is a lecturer and examiner
to veterinary schools and popular speaker at international conferences.
He has been involved in collaborative research projects with both industry
and government and has been employed extensively as an international consultant.
Alberto Brizzi
Alberto
graduated "summa cum laude"in veterinary medicine in 1980 from the University
of Bolgna. He obtain a professional claw trimmer degree from the Oenkerk
School in the Netherlands. He is currently engaged in private practice
in Parma specialising in claw diseases and dairy herd health. Alberto
is the Prisident of the Italian Association for Buiatrics and is one of
the organisers of the XI International Symposium on Disorders of the Ruminant
Digit and III International Conference on Bovine Lameness.
Consultants and Authors
